With the rise in popularity of tattoos, there are greater numbers of people who regret those tattoos. Whether it’s because the artwork doesn’t meet expectation, the tattoo itself is due to youthful indiscretion, or someone’s professional circumstances change and a tattoo is frowned upon in the work environment, tattoo removal can become necessary. Board certified physician, Dr. Kimberly Finder, can help. At The Face & Body Place, we are the only facility in San Antonio to offer laser tattoo removal with the state-of-the-art Picosure™ laser in conjunction with the Spectra laser.

Tattoo Removal Candidate
In the past, not all tattoos were removable, and the procedures were expensive, painful, and not incredibly effective. That’s not true anymore. The Picosure™ laser is safe for all skin types and is effective for any tattoo pigment when combined with Spectra. Black pigment is the easiest to eradicate, but colored ink is also possible to remove with a few more sessions. Anyone with a tattoo they regret, regardless of the reason, is a good candidate for this procedure.
What to Expect with The Picosure™ Laser Tattoo Removal
The number of sessions and speed at which your tattoo fades depends on several factors. Skin type, the color and type of tattoo ink, skin sensitivity, ink depth, and tattoo age are all considerations in the success of your tattoo removal, as well as your overall health. Some patients see visible results after the first treatment, while for others, multiple sessions are required before improvement is clear. A reasonable estimate for the completion of tattoo removal is between 5 and 12 treatments, with 6 to 8 weeks between sessions to ensure proper healing.
My appointment was last Friday with Lori. She was amazing. I appreciate all the information from her and Dr. Finder, all the attentiveness, and caring attitude. Looking forward to my next visit.
The Laser Tattoo Removal Procedure
The Picosure™ laser works by delivering pulses of energy at trillionths of a second to the ink of your tattoo. The shockwave shatters the particles of ink, while at the same time minimizing the amount of heat delivered to the skin surrounding the artwork. This results in less pain and healing time. Patients report that the laser pulse feels similar to a rubber band snap to the skin, which can be uncomfortable but isn’t necessarily painful. Often, topical numbing cream or other aids are available to help reduce this sensation.
As the laser treats small areas of your tattoo at a time, the shattered ink will be absorbed by the body and metabolized naturally. Treatments can be as quick as 5 minutes and or up to 15 minutes, making it possible to schedule a session on your lunch break or between errands. There is no downtime, though Dr. Finder recommends avoiding physical activity for 24 to 48 hours after treatment to avoid inadvertently aggravating the area.
Patients can experience some swelling, redness or tenderness of the area, and in some cases, minor blistering can occur. For 3 days, it’s recommended a thin layer of antibiotic or healing ointment be applied and a gauze bandage placed over the treatment area. Keep the area clean using mild soap and water, and ensure the area stays dry once the bandage is removed.
The PicoSure™ Laser’s technology is unparalleled for the removal of unwanted tattoos. Its precision delivers quicker, more complete results than any other tattoo removal laser available. Say goodbye to that undesirable ink faster and with fewer treatments at The Face and Body Place with Dr. Kimberly Finder.
Dr. Finder & her techniques are top notch. I must say all the team there is super nice & do a great job in whatever position they work.
