What is Waist Liposuction?
The waist is the narrowest part of the torso or trunk and is a three-dimensional feature of the body. Any improvement to the waistline via liposuction needs to take this into consideration. A comprehensive improvement to the waist includes liposuction of the abdomen as well as the posterior, or back of the waist.

Candidates for Waist Liposuction
The waist is a common area of dissatisfaction for women who may begin to develop a less defined waist as they age. Some younger women feel they don’t have a defined waist and seek liposuction as a means of improvement. Genetics will determine the basic body style of each of us.
Many women have a very distinct and full-fat deposition along the backside of the waist, just above the hips. Liposuction of the hips is usually not aesthetically satisfying if fat along the back of the waist is left behind. Depending on the needs of each woman, liposuction of the entire torso at the level of the waist is the best way to achieve the most trim and sculpted appearance.
Accumulated fat may also be located between the muscle and the skin. This is the ideal circumstance for a good result with liposuction. Women with even a small degree of fat located in the subcutaneous area (the zone between the muscle and the skin) may find liposuction rewarding if their best efforts at the gym haven’t been able to work it off.
How Does it Work?
This surgical procedure begins by injecting the treatment site with tumescent anesthesia, which numbs the waist so that you won’t feel a thing during your procedure. Our practice is also one of the only practices in the San Antonio area that offers ProNox, nitrous oxide or “laughing gas” solution. This patient-administered solution helps ease any anxiety and discomfort you may feel during your procedure, and its effects wear off immediately after you stop inhaling the 50% oxygen and 50% nitrous oxide gas.
Once you are numbed, Dr. Finder will make tiny incisions in your waist, allowing her to access both the front and back of the waist and if being combined with waist liposuction, the hips, too. Using a small tube called a cannula, she gently moves back and forth to unwanted suction fat out of your waist and provides you with a more feminine figure.
Patient satisfaction is very high with waist liposuction from Dr. Finder. When liposuction of the waist is combined with abdominal, hip or back liposuction, dramatic results can be achieved in just one session. When combined with SlimLipo™, skin laxity can be improved, and a more youthful appearance restored. With good exercise and eating habits, the results are maintained.
Immediately after your procedure, you’ll be placed in a compression garment to aid in the healing process. You’ll need just two days of downtime; then you’ll be able to go back to work and perform low impact activities like going for walks. You’ll need to abstain from strenuous exercise or heavy labor work for two weeks.
